Scotland is Internationally Connected

Scotland is an exciting place to be right now. As part of the United Kingdom, and a country in our own right, we have always had our own distinct national culture. In recent years, this has been strengthened by the advent of a new Scottish parliament with devolved powers, and a real upsurge of creativity and confidence in Scottish society.

We have a strong and growing economy, and have recently won the titles UK and European Region of the Future. Our top industries include finance, life sciences, medical technologies, tourism, food and drink, chemicals, business services, electronics and the creative industries  – the internationally best selling computer game Grand Theft Auto was designed here.

We are also on the world stage as an international venue, hosting the world’s biggest arts festival every summer in Edinburgh, the famous street party every New Year’s Eve, one of the UK’s longest established summer rock festivals at T-in-the Park, and high profile artistic and political events, like the MTV Music Awards and the G8 Summit.
