Basil Paterson

Established in 1929, Basil Paterson offers a range of English language courses including General and Business English, IELTS and Cambridge main suite preparation and individual tuition.

In addition, Basil Paterson offers a university Foundation programme, as well as UK qualifications such as Highers, GCSEs and A-Levels.

Class sizes are small, with a maximum of ten students per class.

Accommodation with host families can arranged, and during July and August, rooms at the university halls of residence are also available.

Basil Paterson is based in beautiful city-centre premises, and our study centre and student common room (with free internet and wi-fi access) are open all day.

There is a varied social and cultural programme offered by the college which gives students the chance to visit the sights of Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, including Glasgow and the Highlands. There are also theatre trips, film nights and many more fun events, so you will have plenty of opportunities to meet new people and improve your English.

The minimum age for students is 17.
