Edinburgh School of English
Established in 1969, Edinburgh School of English is one of Britain’s leading independent English language schools and a member of ENGLISH UK. We are based at Cranston House - a former church, now a bright, well-equipped modern language school - on the historic Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
With a reputation for excellent programmes and teaching, we offer adult courses year round in general, academic, examination and specialist English; we also run a popular young learners’ summer centre for 14–17 year olds at Edinburgh’s Mary Erkine School, and a residential programme for 10-13 year olds at Strathallan School in Perthshire.
Small classes and enthusiastic staff make sure you get all the support and attention you need, while our comprehensive cultural and social programme gives you lots of opportunities to keep learning outside class, in the English-speaking community.
With more than 35 years’ experience, Edinburgh School of English is committed to providing the highest standards in teaching and student welfare, helping you develop the skills to use English with independence and confidence.
